There’s a lot to like in this sensual read from Britni Pepper.

Coding by Candlelight is a well-crafted story, with a beautifully written narrative that flows effortlessly. The three main characters are touchingly real, particularly the inexperienced Clooney, and Chandra, the teacher from whom he learns so much. Then there’s Erin, whose own inexperience provides a neat counterpoint as she herself learns from Clooney.

There’s a decent storyline that underpins the characters’ relationships, but it is in the nicely paced and tantalisingly evocative sex scenes that this story finds its real beat.

Because while the students work on coding apps that help them to connect with other people, Clooney and Erin’s real lesson is about learning to decode each other’s desires.
